Next year’s Rally1 reg change attracts a new Spanish constructor
The FIA World Rally Championship is trying to turn a corner — if you will pardon a pun — or really several corners at once over the next few years, and as is likely in a racing championship, the car is one of them. The current Rally1 cars are awesome, but they’re probably too fancy for what these drivers and courses do to them, so next year’s rules are meant to be a bit more accessible.
It seems to be working. The second new constructor has joined the championship, and it’s not a giant car company. It’s a sort of national Spanish initiative that is most efficiently called WRT Rally1 Spain. And they aren’t being shy about wanting to lure Dani Sordo away from Hyundai to drive for them.
