She will run the full season in the GT2 European Series with Laura van den Hengel, and it will be the debut of the Iron Dames colors in that series, which might make it worth tuning in to. GT2 is weird, but hey, it’s fast.

Bovy will also drive the Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage with an all-Belgian crew — also including Nicolas Baert, Xavier Knauf, and Gregory Servais — in the 24 Hours of Spa. That will be worth tuning in to.

The team was fined $10,000, which this article frames as “severe.” I don’t find that severe at all. Why was this team allowed to continue participating in this event?

Abril also drove for Bentley and Mercedes, raced in DTM, and qualified on pole in LMGTE Am at the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans. That’s a career you’d think most racing drivers would kill for, but when you get to that level and can’t get that one more step beyond it, it must be as frustrating as anything else.

He plans to continue racing at amateur levels, where I am sure he will win frequently and comfortably.

It’s no longer surprising to see any given Australian road racing series put on door-to-door nail-biters; what impresses me now is seeing what kinds of crazy mixtures of series promoters can pull together.

This weekend’s Phillip Island SRO opener had all the usual SRO sports car classes driven by a mix of extremely eager aspirants and Supercars drivers, but to me what stole the show was the debut of Mustang Cup Australia (which also featured several Supercars drivers). I challenge anyone to come up with a more dramatic first-ever race of a new championship than this one:

This is Cameron passing Golding for the win, +0.006

— Jon 🛞 (@jon.turningfortune.com) Mar27, 2026 at 9:42 PM

Seeing that ending does not spoil it, of course, because it was a coin flip. Watch the whole thing.

These grids are all stacked. SRO championships are not just giving ams more way to spend money; they’re filling in the gaps allowing each global region’s working sports car drivers to have careers.

The three-hour opener of the top-class GT World Challenge America was won by the JMF Motorsports #34, a Mercedes-AMG GT3 customer team fielding Michai Stephens and a Mercedes driver with whom you may be familiar named Mikael Grenier. This team and car has been dominant at Sonoma the past couple years, but this was the beginning of the three-hour GTWC America race format, and the #34 proved they can keep going all day if they have to.

The other big story to my eye is that Westin Workman and Tyler Gonzalez are absolutely unstoppable in their #68 GR Supra in Pirelli GT4 America. It’s worth watching those races just to see if anybody’s got anything for them.

Surely it helped having works driver Marco Mapelli fresh off the Daytona 24 to run the Mountain, but the team also says they’ve just dialed in their operations this year.

It would be fun to see some solid results for the Huracan in the year when the Temerario is rolling out. Pfaff Motorsports — Mapelli’s team for his IMSA endurance outings — will be debuting its Temerario at the 12 Hours of Sebring March 18–21, their goal being simply to finish the famously bumpy race.

The GT3 racing world wants to run Bathurst, and now it’s getting a little crowded up on that mountain for multi-class racing. There were only two GT4 cars entered in the 2026 race (along with two other oddball entries), but there is talk of bringing the whole Monochrome GT4 Australia series to the race meeting next year, so there can be a whole grid full of high-level GT4 cars with their own endurance race.

Lo and behold, when I landed, I ran into him at the airport leaving Daytona, and I briefly became even more worried. He quickly put my mind at ease with the news that he will be racing Precision Racing LA’s Toyota GR Supra in Pirelli GT4 America full-time this year.

Ryan bounces back and forth between IMSA and SRO, which is a normal thing for a coaching-level pro to do as up-and-comers such as Karl Forman enlist their services in whatever series suits their program. Forman is graduating from the GR Cup series, where Eversley coaches many drivers, so they’ve worked together and have chemistry, and they’re staying in the same OEM ecosystem. And going forward, if you want to build a track record right now with any GT brand, I dare say it’s Toyota.

Andy Lee is co-driver. The car will be a BMW M4 GT3 Evo, which still really suits Sparklefarts, though it’s quite a different vibe from the Lamborghini Super Trofeo car.

I think I like this move. This team seems to be proceeding carefully and deliberately and making sure the results are there as they go. I’m sure they’ll bring the new Aston to IMSA once they’re sure they can win.
